The BIG Thank You event at Victoria Hall in Higher Bebington was held on 6 December.
The event was staged to formally thank all those who have volunteered and supported the village hall in its transition from being a local authority run venue to an independent organisation and charity in its own right known as Victoria Hall Community Trust.
The Trust officially took over running the building on 20 August, and the hall, which has been newly refurbished, has been open for business again since September.
Liz Hebron-Shields, Chairperson of the Trust, said, “Three years ago, the process began to change the management of Victoria Hall to a community trust. Since then much planning and work has been carried out at the hall and we wanted to say a BIG Thank you to all those who have worked to help save the hall and move it forward to its next phase of development.”
The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Cllr Dave Mitchell, a self-confessed Higher Bebington Firbob, who over the years has enjoyed many happy occasions at Victoria Hall. He said “Victoria Hall is a jewel in the crown of Higher Bebington. I am pleased that it is now back at the heart of the community for the people of Higher Bebington and wider Wirral to use and enjoy”.
Susan Smith, Trust Treasurer stated: “We have had many compliments from people who are delighted that the hall is fully operational again, and we look forward to continuing in this way for many years to come”. Smith introduced Ngozi Ikoku, newly appointed Centre Development Officer, who can be contacted for bookings and for those who wish to volunteer at the hall.
